I recently had the privilege of visiting Paris for 2 events: Deco Off, an annual city wide festival where over 150 fabric, wallpaper, trimming, lighting, and decor showrooms open their doors (and their bars…) to showcase their latest collections and Maison et Objet, a twice yearly furniture and lifestyle trade show with over 2,000 exhibitors. (I also obviously tacked on a little vacation…)
It was of course, très fantastique, et je le recommande à tout le monde (very fantastic and I’d recommend it to everyone – did I mention I was practicing on Duo Lingo for 3 months before the trip??) and I am delighted to share some of my favorite new-to-me items/vendors (if I included all the fabulous showrooms in NYC that were also in Paris, this would be a novel not a blog).
Art et Floritude

The very first showroom I walked into, Art et Floritude, was one of my favorites from the whole event. Known for their highly customizable, feminine, and organic illuminated art (calling them light fixtures would be reductive), this show saw the debut of their new Géométrie collection, which features clean lines, bold forms, and a distinctly modern aesthetic.
Maison Charles

Okay, I know this is just a sample tray, but you know how much I love gingko leaves! And it helps that these samples are for some truly stunning sculptures, light fixtures, and furnishings from Maison Charles, a century old Parisian foundry. They too are very into ginkgo leaves, among other art nouveau and art deco motifs, and mark my words, one day I will own one of their pieces!
Beiriz

Beiriz was one of the last showrooms I visited, and I am so glad I didn’t miss them. Based in Portugal and also over 100 years old, all of their rugs are handcrafted to order and they will make anything you (or I!) could imagine in a an array of sizes, colors, fibers, and pile heights/densities (that’s the technical term for squishiness) This photo does NOT do these rugs justice – they are so soft, richly colored, and luxurious.
Nine Muses Textiles

Based in Australia, Nine Muses Textiles draws on founder Tigger Hall’s artistic heritage and global travels. She hand paints each design, which is then printed to order on either Belgian linen or wallpaper. The bold and organic patterns embrace imperfections and can be customized for both scale and color to create truly bespoke furnishings.
Vintola Studio

I was so excited to see Vintola Studio at Maison et Objet, and get to meet founder Ola Szewczul – I have so many of her chairs saved on 1st Dibs! Based in Poland, Vintola specializes in restoring and reupholstering vintage mid-century modern furniture, specifically chairs and ottomans. And I know what you’re thinking – Madelaine, is that a free form rug on the floor and on a chair?? Yes it is! And Ola made that rug herself! It’s available in any color/size!! Or as upholstery for any piece of furniture!! I know!!!
Not only that, but I can personally attest to every chair in this photo being legitimately comfortable, which if you’ve read any of my High Point highlight posts, you know is high praise from me indeed. This booth was hands down my Maison highlight, and if you’re in need of any chairs or stools, I highly recommend taking a look (and tell her I sent you)!
So…there was also some pretty ridiculous stuff at Maison et Objet. And by ridiculous, I also mean [insert many adjectives here]. Naturally I couldn’t resist sharing my “favorites” with you…yikes.

I hope you enjoyed my tour of Parisian highlights (maybe I’ll share some of the “vacation ones” in another post), and as always, if I can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to reach out and schedule a Complimentary Consultation.
Till next time…
Madelaine
