I FELT LIKE GOLDILOCKS!
I should add a caveat – I felt like a version of Goldilocks who was actually invited and warmly welcomed by the 3 bears, or in my case, furniture vendors from around the globe.
I’ve just returned from High Point Market, the largest furniture fair in the world. There are over 12 million square feet of showrooms spread out over 180 buildings showcasing 2,000 different vendors. IT’S HUGE!
So, how did yours truly do? Over the course of 5 days:
- I walked over 120,000 steps
- I visited over 1,000 vendors
- I took nearly 4,000 photos
- I sat in over 6,000 chairs & sofas
- I added over 750 chairs & sofas to my “approved list”
- I “discovered” dozens of exciting new vendor partners
If you think about each of those sit tests as a squat, and add in all the steps, you can imagine why I spent yesterday on my own couch eating pizza and catching up on Piccard!
But in all seriousness, I had an incredible time treasure hunting FOR YOU. I found winners in all styles and at all price points. I sat on everything from $200 chairs to $20,000 sofas and everything in between.
Perhaps the most exciting part was finding pieces to suit every body. Not just everybody in the sense of different aesthetics and preferences, but every BODY in terms of physiology.
As someone who is, we’ll politely say, vertically challenged, it can be difficult to find sofas and chairs that are scaled so I can sit all the way back AND bend my knees AND put my feet flat on the floor…without adding a pillow (or 2) behind me.
Well, let me tell you, I have finally found the holy grails of petite furniture! Not only that, I can get them in ANY FABRIC ON THE PLANET.
Yes, you read that correctly. ANY FABRIC.
Have you ever gone to a furniture store, either in person or online, and thought “that chair is so cute, but the fabric…oof….” No more. Because I got the skinny on where certain stores (cough, Anthropologie, cough) are getting their furniture made, and I can order pieces directly with literally infinitely more choices.
Just for you.
And we haven’t even talked about the dining chairs, tables, desks, bookcases, cabinets, rugs, lighting, drapery and accessories yet!
My brain is exploding with possibilities and I cannot wait to start designing for you with all of these fabulous new resources.
