Hudson, NY
This client had recently moved into a new home to start a new chapter in her life. Phase 1 focuses on communal areas: the entry, living/dining area, and patio. These spaces also needed to accomodate an office and play area for her son.
The home boasts terrific views of the Hudson River, so capitalizing on that connection was crucial. The client was also very keen to hide screens when they were not in use and create a space that worked for both intimate family moments and entertaining.
We begin every project with a set of principles that come from our client’s own words:
The key moves here are: adding built-ins along the perimeter of the living space creating areas for screens, storage, and seating, concealing different zones with continuous rail barn doors, adding a faux fireplace below the television, using the same pattern for both window and wall coverings, interpreting the same color palette in myriad ways throughout the space, and maximizing the long yet narrow patio for relaxation and dining/gardening areas.
